About Us

Ashirvadam,

Allow me to introduce myself; I am Pitchu Balakrishna Sastrigal. Hailing from Thiruvarur, a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, I have had the honor of receiving guidance and education from esteemed teachers in the field of Vedic studies. My uncle, Brahmashri Krishnamoorthi Ghanapadigal, a renowned Vedic scholar, imparted his profound wisdom to me, instilling a deep understanding of the Vedas. Additionally, I had the privilege of studying under Brahmashri Mysore Vaidyanatha Ghanapadigal, further enriching my knowledge and expertise, particularly in the Krishna Yajurveda. The journey of my Vedic education began at a young age and continues to this day.

Following my education, I embarked on a path of sharing Vedic knowledge through parayanam, the repeated chanting and recitation of the Vedas, Prabandhas, Shlokas, and Puranas. In 1984, with the help of my brother who lived in Canada, I had the opportunity to come to Canada, where I began working at the Ganesh temple. Over the years, I have been privileged to teach numerous students, witnessing their growth and progress on their spiritual journeys. While some have moved on to pursue different endeavours, a dedicated group has remained, ensuring the preservation and continuity of our cherished Vedic traditions. It is through their commitment that we are able to undertake grand events such as the Athi Rudram.

To further our mission and extend the reach of Vedic knowledge our institution currently welcomes over 120 individuals who passionately engage in authentic and comprehensive Vedic learning. We strive to contribute something of great significance to the world, fostering peace and alleviating the hardships faced by individuals. Seeking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva, we aspire to create an environment where individuals can find solace, removing obstacles and bringing tranquility to their lives. Moreover, amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are mindful of those who have been unable to bid farewell to their loved ones or conduct proper funeral services. Thus, Athi Rudram serves as a means to offer solace and peace to departed souls, fulfilling their final rites.

I humbly invite all of you to join us in our noble endeavor. Your contributions, both spiritual and tangible, will be deeply appreciated. Together, let us unite and partake in the joyous event, experiencing the divine energy that flows through the sacred chants of the Athi Rudram. In return, you will not only receive the blessings of Lord Shiva but also gain a profound understanding of the ancient Vedic scriptures. May this journey bring us closer to the ultimate truth and foster a sense of inner harmony and peace.

With heartfelt gratitude,

P. Balakrishna Sastrigal
